HSS / tool steel
HSS (High Speed Steel) refers to high-alloy high-speed steels with high hardness, wear resistance and temperature resistance. The main alloying elements are tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, cobalt and chromium. HSS is used for drills, milling cutters, taps and punching tools, among other things.
Tool steel includes alloyed and unalloyed steels for the manufacture of tools and molds. Depending on the alloy, a distinction is made between cold-working, hot-working and high-speed steels. Typical applications include dies, punches, cutting and forming tools as well as precision and clamping tools.
